Let the Lord be your Pace Setter: Psalm 23 for busy people

I thought I will share this one again, mostly a prayer for me, cause I am supper busy. I will make it a prayer for you too. Be blessed!

Psalm 23 For Busy People

The Lord is my Pace Setter, I shall not rush,

He makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals,

He provides me with images of stillness,

Which restore my serenity.

He leads me in ways of efficiency,

through calmness of mind; and his guidance is peace.

Even though I have a great many things to carry out each day,

I will not fret, for his presence is here.

His timelessness, his all-importance will keep me in balance.

He prepares refreshment and renewal in the midst of my activity,

by anointing my head with his oils of tranquility,

My cup of joyous energy overflows.

Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruit of my hours,

For I shall walk in the pace of my Lord,

and dwell in his house for ever.

  1. Hi Walter–this is pure brilliance and such a lovely gift for me today–thank you!!! I’m wondering if you’d permit me to print it out–with full copyright credit to you, of course? It’s so perfect and wonderful–not just for me, but for a special sister of mine. Let me know–as I do not wish to cause offense. God bless you so richly today, and always. sis Caddo

    • Those are very kind words, but they should be directed to Marian Wright Edelman. She wrote “The Lord is my Pace Setter” from Psalm 23. I heard my pastor use it once and I thought it was his. I am glad to update the post with proper credit and a picture of Marian.

Go ahead and share it, use it, give to God for it… and proper credit to Mirian…

      • Thanks for the clarification, Walter–no, I wasn’t planning to profit, just share it with someone who could really use it today. God bless you!

        • No worries, brother–these comment boxes make for difficult communication, no? I really appreciated your updated post, and linked it to my little sis–it blessed her so much, just as it did me! You have a much-blessed day, hear! sis Caddo

  2. This is an amazing post – exactly what I needed to hear! It seems like life has got so busy and hectic, and there isn’t a minute to stop and just breathe! Thank you for this beautiful poem.
