A Passionate call to seek, preach and live truth

preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:2-5 P4CM presents Rhetoric 2012, the largest Christian Poetry event. Featured P4CM Poet Jackie Hill delivered her poem “Jig-A-Boo” in front of an audience of nearly 3,000 people. Future

The scripture under discussion today is one among many that changed the course of my life forever. I want to talk about the future – but allow me to go back about twenty-five years to when I first met the Lord and understood that He had a plan for my life. It was an eye opener – a treasured discovery that sparked in me a curiosity to understand all the things God had planned for life and my future. The first passage that really got the ball rolling for me is found in Acts 13:36 For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. This passage blew my mind. So if God had a purpose for David’s life in his generation, does that mean that God has a plan for me in my generation? I went-really? That God has a purpose for me in my generation. What is it? The first sermon I ever worked on was based on a …

Dancing to the Beat of Shalom: Christians Revive Kansas City’s Arts Scene

By Kevin Selders via Chtistianity When Jeremiah Enna and Mona Störling-Enna prayed to find a city where they could launch a world-class dance company, they expected God to respond with a cultural hotspot like London or Helsinki. Nearly 20 years later, the two classically trained dancers and husband and wife team smile when they think about where they landed. “We prayed for about a year-and-a-half and just couldn’t get a grip on it. Then we came to visit my brother in Kansas City, Kansas, for Christmas,” says Enna, who grew up in the Kansas City area. “My brother said, ‘Why don’t you move to Kansas City?’ We both said, ‘Why?’ (laughs)” But after learning of the growing arts community in nearby Kansas City, Missouri, the couple moved into Enna’s brother’s attic during the summer of 1995 with $800 in their pockets and God’s calling on their hearts. “We were like little immigrants,” Störling-Enna says. Since that time of uncertainty, however, the Ennas and fellow leaders at The Culture House and Störling Dance Theater have given …

Six things God hates with a passion and one more that crawls under his skin

Proverbs 6:16-19 Here are six things God hates, and one more that he loathes with a passion: eyes that are arrogant, a tongue that lies, hands that murder the innocent, a heart that hatches evil plots, feet that race down a wicked track, a mouth that lies under oath, a troublemaker in the family. What’s there to elaborate? Eyes that are arrogant – “what is she wearing today…? good grief…look at that hairdo…those shoes don’t match what she is wearing…she doesn’t know how to dress – like “ME,” says the popular chick. A tongue that lies – “oh let’s pray for the Wilcox family… I heard he is cheating on his wife… she wants a divorce and the Pastor is telling her that she needs to stay…” Says the jealous and so-called friend. Hands that lead to murder – “I’m gonna dress up like the joker and shoot some innocent people” says the clown in the Colorado theater killings. The heart that hatches evil plots – “you know I need that promotion… That position that Harold …

Modesto Manifesto!

It is not uncommon now a days to hear about scandals in the lives of good christian ministers. Many have fallen into temptation and have lost their credibility in disgrace, not to mention the shame brought to the name of Jesus and his church. But there is a leading pioneer and church figure named Billy Graham that have made a difference over the past fifty to sixty years. Don’t get me wrong, Billy has had his share of criticism over the years, having come under intense scrutiny, but there has not been any scandal that has rocked his name or ministry. I believe one of the reasons why Billy Graham and his ministry has been able to remain rock steady has to do with a simple meeting that happened in a hotel room in Modesto, California. In that room on the night of November 1948 was birthed what they called “The Modesto Manifesto.” We will never criticize, condemn, or speak negatively about others… We will be accountable, particularly in handling finances, with integrity according to …

I don’t know why Jesus Loves me!

One of the greatest mysteries of all time is the Love of God. It is so vast that we can’t get around it, it is so deep we can’t get under it and it is so high that we can not get over it. People from all walk of life are seeking daily to understand it. I love how the song writer puts it – “I don’t why Jesus loves – I don’t know why He cared – I don’t know why He sacrificed His life – oh but am glad – am glad He did.” We wonder why God would love a world that is so hostile and arrogant toward Him. Despite our arrogance and rebellion – the bible tells us that we are very special – in fact that is the very reason He created us. Here are a few ways God demonstrates his love toward us: 1.Through creation. He has giving us the following: the ability to think (Isa. 1:18) the ability to choose (Josh. 24:15). the ability to love (Mark 12:30 – 31). …

Why a Healthy Sex Life (If You’re Married) Makes You a Better Leader

By Margaret Feinberg Via churchleaders.com While you’ve probably read books about sex and maybe even taken a few quizzes, have you ever correlated sex with your leadership skills? Although having a healthy sex life may not turn you into a superhuman leader, here are five ways a healthy sex life can improve your leadership skills: 1. A healthy sex life removes temptations. The temptations we face as leaders aren’t just sexual, but temptation takes many different forms. First Corinthians 7:5 encourages married believers to engage in sex, preventing a potential foothold for Satan. Whether it’s the allure of power or money or worldly success, if you are satisfied at home, you will feel less of a drive toward temptation elsewhere. 2. Leaders engaging in a healthy sexual relationship with their spouse will naturally develop stronger communication skills along with grace, humility, and gentleness. These skills are transferable, allowing you to be more effective when interacting with other people. Selfless love is the key to a healthy sex life; if leaders can selflessly love their spouse …
