I’d rather have Jesus

Imagine a house full of feasting, but its residents have no peace because of strife and fights. That is a life without Him. Imagine running vigorously, yet always missing your mark because your aim is off and your purpose is weak. That is a life without Him. Imagine Filling your life with everything you feel will bring you happiness, but it feels like you’re fetching water from a broken fountain. That is life without Him. I often wonder – what causes people to walk away from God? The following usually come to mind: Tribulations “When tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, those who have no root in themselves, immediately they fall away.” The deceitfulness of riches “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” Entangled and overcome by sin “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they …

Micah’s Declarations

Don’t spend your day singing the blues? My oldest daughter stepped into the car on her way to school the other day, singing her blues: “I am having a bad day.” I had to tell her that sometimes we have to remind ourselves; speak to those negative FEELINGS that are shouting at us in ALL CAPS the things God says about us. I promise, it won’t be long until things come into alignment with the Word of God. Let Micah’s declarations become your confession: I’m filled with power, I’m filled with the Spirit of the Lord, I’m filled with justice I’m filled with might I’m filled with boldness Micah 3:8

Peace on earth goodwill to men

Hate is not strong enough to mock this song. God is not dead nor does he sleep. Wrong shall fail and right shall prevail. There is hope in the midst of despair. We are grounded, settled and confident in His victory Our hearts are assured by His everlasting love. Darkness is swallowed by the light of the world – Jesus. Peace is springing up in the most devastating places of war and chaos and trouble. The Bells of Christmas Day will be heard far and wide – Peace on earth – goodwill to men.

Make my house a Home

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. John 14:23 My house has become a home because: It’s chief cornerstone is Jesus Christ. It’s resting on a firm foundation which is Jesus Christ. It”s a temple in which His Holy Spirit dwells. It’s a dwelling of prayer and worship It’s residents have been chosen, made royal and holy. He has tied up the strong man, plundered his goods and made my house a home. He has made it a home of contentment, peace and quiet – instead a house of feasting and strife. He has answered my prayer – “Thy Kingdom come, Your will be done as is in Heaven.” He has made it is home of rest and sound sleep because he is a strong and wise builder. He has been counted worthy of more glory and honor than anyone else in my home. Warren W. Weirsbe once said, “Salvation means we …

Disturb us Lord

Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we have dreamed too little, When we arrived safely Because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst For the waters of life; Having fallen in love with life, We have ceased to dream of eternity And in our efforts to build a new earth, We have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, To venture on wider seas Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land, We shall find the stars. We ask You to push back The horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future In strength, courage, hope, and love Prayer by Sir Francis Drake

Bust the bloomin’ drum

John Stott tells of an English Salvation Army drummer who was beating his drum so hard that the band leader had to tell him to pipe down a bit and not make so much noise. In his cockney accent the drummer replied, “God bless you, sir, since oi’ve been converted, oi’m so ’appy, oi could bust the bloomin’ drum!” If you’ve never known this joy – let today be the day that experience it. Open up your heart to Jesus. By grace and through faith and repentance, your life will never be the same. If you’ve lost that joy, either through sin, suffering or sorrow – let today be the day you find it again – by putting you trust in Him again, and crying out to him, your voice will be heard. If you are still undecided, not very sure about this. I employ you to taste and see that The Lord is good. Take that leap of faith. Source of Information: (Christianity Today [6/12/81], p/ 19.)

Comfort Foods

Comfort, comfort, comfort! Who doesn’t like to be comforted? The problem is we often seek it in all the wrong places. For me, finding comfort in food is my drug of choice when I am seeking comfort in difficult times. For some, it might be alcohol,  drugs, or some kind of temporary fix to cause you to forget your pain. Still for others, it is an escape into a world of fantasy,  entertainment,  the adrenaline of a fast life or a lustful, soulful,  sexual experience. In any case, we usually, if not always come away more empty than we went in. But it’s time for you to see and taste of the “sweetest of love, where your heart becomes free and your shame is undone. “ We find those in the comfort that comes only from the Father of all comforts.  If you are tempted in any way today,  to go looking for comfort in all the wrong places,  know that you will never be satisfied.  But if you choose to look upon the face …
