Living a visionary life

Take a look at Proverb 29:18 in three different translation “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he.” “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.” Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction. Introduction Where there is no vision, no prophet to proclaim the Word, no pastor to teach the good news, the people perish, no revelation of what God is doing or what He intends to do: The people are made naked. They are stripped and exposed to shame and exposed to danger. They rebel, not only against God but also against leadership, and authority, They are idle and lose their commitment and devotion to the Lord. They are scattered as wondering sheep with no shepherd to guard them. They are destroyed for lack of knowledge. What is the meaning of vision? Vision is a captivating and compelling picture or dream …

A Leader’s Conviction

Almost every Sunday morning before I open the doors of our congregation, I say to myself, “These doors will always be opened, even for a thousand generation, until our Lord returns.” Every time we receive an offering, sign a check to pay our church bills, I say to myself – “God will always meet our needs as a church.” Sometimes I audibly say these words in front of the entire church, “our church has been around for more than 15o years. God has been faithful and He is not about ready to abandon us. I am completely persuaded that He who began a good work in us, will be faithful till the end. Souls will be saved New believers will be baptized They will be discipled They will grow and develop into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ And they will go out and multiply I am completely persuaded! I refuse to allow doubt, fear, uncertainty, and anxiety to intimidate me.” You know what? I am not backing down from those convictions. Doors are going to get closed …

Disturb us Lord

Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we have dreamed too little, When we arrived safely Because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst For the waters of life; Having fallen in love with life, We have ceased to dream of eternity And in our efforts to build a new earth, We have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, To venture on wider seas Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land, We shall find the stars. We ask You to push back The horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future In strength, courage, hope, and love Prayer by Sir Francis Drake

Are you a Visionary or a Dreamer?

Imagine coming to the end of your life and you are presented with an unchecked list all the promptings, prophetic promises, divine direction, dreams and visions, things you wanted to do in your lifetime but failed to see any of them realized. How would you feel? Unfortunately, this is the legacy of many – wasted opportunities, wasted dreams, wasted potentials. There are two kinds of people, in this world – visionaries and dreamers. Which one are you? A very good friend of mine went home to be with the Lord a few months ago. After I heard about His untimely death, I felt the urge to record a short video of myself singing a song that my friend and most of our friends at one time sang together. The idea was to encourage his family and all our mutual friends. I really felt that it was the Lord impressing this vision upon me. But weeks went by, and still the song had not been recorded. When I finally thought about it, it dawned on me …

Three Key Reasons Teams Succeed

“That the leaders took the lead in Israel, that the people offered themselves willingly, bless the Lord! (‭Judges‬ ‭5‬:‭2‬ ESV) 1. Team Leaders take the lead The first reason teams succeed is leaders take the lead. They are not passively waiting for permission to lead. They are enthusiastic and ready to lead. They are not unassuming lacking in zeal. They are looking for opportunities to do great things. 2. Team Members offer themselves willingly The second reason teams succeed is people willingly follow. Teams are not necessarily successful because of leaders. They succeed because people are willing to follow and get the job done. Unfortunately, people do not always follow even when the leaders take the lead. They are some times critical of leaders. They let jealousy and selfish ambition get in the way of success. That’s why this third key is vital to the overall success of the team 3. God Saves the Day We must never leave God out of the equation when it comes to achieving success as a team. Psalm 127:1 …

God hates visionary Dreaming?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together God hates visionary dreaming; it makes the dreamer proud and pretentious. The man who fashions a visionary ideal of community demands that it be realized by God, by others, and by himself. He enters the community of Christians with his demands, sets up his own law, and judges the brethren and God Himself accordingly. He stands adamant, a living reproach to all others in the circle of brethren. Source Is there a difference between a true visionary and visionary dreaming? Yes! I believe that there is a difference between a true visionary and visionary dreaming. It is a subtle but very critical difference. A true visionary is a man who actually gets his vision from God. There is no presumption or assumption. The vision is given to him by God. He doesn’t act as if he knows it all and have all the answers. He is willing to abandon his ideas about the work of God and embrace God’s Visionary dreaming is sometimes tied up in ambition, ego, idealism or even cynicism. A …

Is there anything worse than blindness? Yes! A person with no vision.

Pilgrims with no vision of the promised land become proprietors of their own land… Instead of looking upward at the Lord, they look inward at themselves and outward at each other. The result? Cabin fever. Quarreling families, Restless leaders, Fence building, Starked-off territory, No trespassing! signs are hung on hearts and homes. Spats turn into fights, as myopic groups turn to glare at each other’s weaknesses instead of turning to worship their common strength. _______________________________ Max Lucado, God came near (Portland, OR: Multnomah, 1987, 161. Let the Lord be your vision

1. How you see people Mark 8:24 And he looked up and said, “I see men, but they look like trees, walking.” (ESV) To take away our deep-seated prejudices, biases, judgments and stereotypes so that we can see every man clearly. 2 Corinthians 5:16, 17 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (ESV) 2. How you see problems Zechariah 4:10  For who has desisted the days of small things? (ASV) To be able to see those blessings that usually come in disguise…either by trial or tribulation. James 1:2 Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds. (ESV) 3. How you see God’s will vs your will 1 Thess. 3:3 For this is the will of God… (ESV) To be able to discover the perfect will of God concerning you in every …
